Construction follow up January, 26

   We have running water in the lavatories! 

The towels and toilet paper hangs were bought. 

The windows now have glass.

A donation of ceiling fans which are ready to be installed.

A donation of school chairs from the British Embassy in Brazil!

The drainage of rain water is at its final stage, and there will be no more rain drops in the corridors!

Overview of the new classroom and patio.

 A donation of R$2000,00 from Banco Central do Brasil's june event (St John's party) was received. The money will be used for painting the windows and doors. Our new classroom is almost finished!

Construction update January 13, 2013

It seems that our classroom is almost ready: take a look at the beautiful white ceiling! The bathroom appliances are being installed. The counter in the kids' bathroom is fixed. We can see the lighting and the electric outputs on place, as well as the new doors and handles. Almost no leftovers on site: a new porch was built with unused material. The new area will room a laundry (last picture).

Construction update January 2nd, 2013

The project team visited the site on December 29, and checked the evolution of the construction. As shown by the pictures, the toilet walls have received adequate tiles, and all rooms received electrical wiring. The men now have taken a well deserved holliday, and we will also take our brake. Happy New Year to everyone who have been supporting and funding our new classroom! We wish you all a wonderful 2013!

Construction Update December 25th

As a Christmas gift to our sponsors, we gladly announce that our new building is at its final stage. We visited the site on the 23rd. The new room has received the floor tiles and the walls have been painted with a light beige colour. The toilets received water plumbing. The external walls of the new building have been painted. The floor of the new covered patio has been leveled. And the men are willing to work this week, right after Christmas!

Graduation day

Last Saturday (december 15), the kids celebrated Christmas and graduation. Check the pictures, they show their happiness and how special this school is. Many of the donators that help maintainig the schools are also in the pictures. There is a special thanks to them in the last slide, and that includes everyone that is taking part on this project of building the new room!

Construction Update December 16

The area in front of the new classroom is now covered, and the walls are ready to be painted! This covered area was a change on the original scope, suggested by a Brazilian couple who visited the school two weeks ago and decided to donate the material to cover a larger area. With this improvement, our schedule is a bit behind, but the benefit is a huge covered patio for a play area during the rainny season. The donations so far will be practically enough for the finishings of this new area. Next week, before Christmas, the men will start painting the walls and applying tiles on the bathrooms and lavatories.
